Ghost by Jason Reynolds (Ezra)

Ghost by Jason Reynolds Ghost.  It’s a middle school classic. Well in my case, my middle school had been assigning this book for ages. However, just because it was assigned, does mean that it was a bad book. In fact, this was my favorite book in middle school.       Ghost is about a teenage boy, Castle “Ghost” Cranshaw, with an incredible talent in track. The book starts off by talking about Ghost’s troubled family life. One time his father, an alcoholic, tried to kill Ghost and his mother. They quickly escaped to Mr. Charles, a shopkeeper, and he called the police. Obviously, the father was convicted. However, this event traumatized Ghost and it partially contributed to his academic failure. Ghost was an angry kid at school. He was always getting into fights, and he did not get good grades. However, his life would change when he met Coach.       One day while eating in the park, Ghost saw a group of kids racing. The coach for this tea...

Assassination Classroom by Yusei Matsui. "Slice of Life-y Action Manga where a ragtag team of underperforming students attempt to kill teacher who is also a deadly alien."

暗殺教室 (Assassination Classroom) A Manga by Yusei Matsui, Review by Willie Fowler (Yes, this guy is what is constantly drawn on the Chalk Boards) For some background,  Assassination Classroom is a manga written by Yusei Matsui from 2012 to 2016 that gained enough popularity to have an anime produced for it in Late December of 2013, and a...so-so movie. It's chapters were being published to Japan's No. 1 best selling magazine from Shueisha: "Weekly Shonen Jump" from the start of July in 2012 to the middle of March in 2016. The chapters were collected and put into 21 volumes a few months down the line, releasing in November of 2012 and concluding in July of 2016. Weekly Shonen Jump currently holds the undying One Piece ( CHAPTER 1  CAME OUT IN 1997 AND IT STILL HAS CHAPTERS NOW ), The "quirky"  My Hero Academia , Jujutsu Kaisen, and more. Though now no longer running as of now, many well known manga in pop-culture such as Naruto, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, ...

Downfall of Haddix book series

The downfall of Margaret Peterson’s Haddix book series.   Margaret Petersons Haddix's book collection consists of 9 books. Found, Sent, Sabotaged, Torn, Caught, Risked, Rescued, Revealed, and Redeemed . I started reading this series in 6 th grade and I still haven’t finished due to how incredibly repetitive and boring it got. The first book in the series, “ Found ” was a 10/10. I would still recommend it today. It is about two teenage friends. Jonah and Chip. Jonah always knew he was adopted. However, Chip did not know until recent events that later involve the FBI, a missing plane, missing people, and people disappearing and reappearing…including him. The next book “Sent”, was also very well written with many great plot twists. From what I’ve read, after “Sent”, the remaining of the series wasn’t interesting. The books were very predictable and written poorly. The cover art also started getting repetitive. However, I do feel the characters had good character developm...

Exile Review By Swapnil Kumar

Exile is the second book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger. The book starts off with the main character of the series Sophie Foster having nightmares of the kidnapping that took place during the first book. She got kidnapped by a group of elves that drugged and nearly killed her and her best friend Dex. Sophie, Dex, Grady (her adopted elf parent along with Edaline), Keefe, Fitz, and Biana (some of her really close friends that she met in the elf world) go to find a Yeti. This was an experience that Sophie was experiencing for the first time and was having a good time. Instead of finding a Yeti, however, she finds an even rarer find, a female alicorn.  When Sophie starts Firefox Academy (a school for elves) she finds a locket that she thinks is from Grady and Edaline but it’s actually from a mysterious organization called The Black Swan, who created Sophie. Alden, a very important figure to Sophie, tells Sophie to come with him on a very important ...

Looking for Alaska

Looking for Alaska       Looking for Alaska is a relatable novel about a teenage boy, “Pudge” and his experience searching for the Great Perhaps. In the novel, Pudge lives by these words. To him, they mean a search for adventure, a search for the meaning of life. At the beginning of the novel, he moves into his dorm at the Culver Creek Boarding school, and he meets his roommate, Chip. Chip is Miles’s mentor and the person to introduce him to the school. Chip teaches Miles about the social structure of the school, and he even invites Mile’s into his friend group. The story truly begins when Chip introduces Miles to Alaska. Miles quickly develops a crush in Alaska because of their differences. The main point of the book is the Great Perhaps versus the Labyrinth of Suffering. Each of these quotes are introduced through Miles and Alaska and it really helps progress the story. Anyways, the two most prominent groups at the school are the Weekday Warriors and Miles’s friend...
